Stylenspire: oldie goodie

I love how I can shop from my closet and make up my outfit with good ol' staples and people keep asking where they can get the pieces from. At the compliments and inquiries, my smile gets wider when I tell them these are old pieces that are just stylishly new. Today's style make up are each oldie goodies and a testament to how important it is for you to buy fashion pieces that are very much you and will become style staples in your closet.
I hope you have had a good holiday season and are each thankfully taking stock of the blessings from 2013. Part of my stock taking process is also to sift through and know what to let go in 2013 and what to embrace in 2014. While sifting through my closet, I found each of these pieces and decided to stylishly enjoy them for today. I am not sure if they will continue with me on my style journey in 2014 but for now, they work.
What about you? Are you counting down to a new year and taking stock of your blessings? If so, what habits/tendencies/style attitudes are you letting go of, or embracing into the new year?
Rejoice in each opportunity you have each been afforded in 2013 in these last moments. Be assured that God's plans for you in 2014 will be to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future in Him, whereby you will call upon Him and He will answer you. And when you seek Him with all of your heart, He will be found by you. See, JEREMIAH 29:11-13

Stylenspire: 'ber days

Wherever did September days run to? And what exactly happened with October? November days are also almost gone! Each day seem to run on by and all of them together are gone before you know it. Now I understand why I was asked to petition God for 30hours per day and 10days to a week. Chuckles* As if that can ever happen.
Though we cannot ever go back into those days, we can relive the joys and challenges they have brought us. We can give thanks for this year in its entirety as it nears its end, and with grateful hearts look forward to the blessings ahead.

In cold months as we have now, the key to creating each outfit is layering. Each layered piece will lend style while adding warmth to your whole look. I paired the blue cardigan with my dress to bring out the deep blue of the dress, but also to elongate/accentuate my slim shape with its length. A shorter cardi would have cut the dress in half, focusing on my short torso which would not look right.

Style tip: When layering, add fashion pieces that will give warmth with its volume and not bulk. Use the pieces to accentuate you physique without ill-defining your body parts.

Stylenspire: faithful friday

It's is the end of the week and frankly I am most glad it's Friday. Not so much for the weekend, but for the blessing I have had to survive this week and the grace to turn each heartache into hallelujahs. To finish it on a non-too-casual note, I styled my outfit with this interesting mohair ombre dress and a fur vest for warmth in style. I pictured two shoe options to share with you how you can style a dress like this in heels or flats. (I went with the flats for the day)
While looking for what to wear this morning, I realized that I have collected a few furry staples in the last year or so. That was an interesting discovery and I look forward to stylishly curate each piece this season. For now, do enjoy your viewing and have a FAB FRIDAY!

Outfit deets: ALICE+OLIVIA Macie Ombre Boatneck Dress (bid for it / fab option) + THEORY Evlyn Fur Vest (bid for it / buy it / fab find option / more fab options) + Steve Madden DARRT Metallic Pumps + KATE SPADE fur flats (sold out) + KATE SPADE Dome Ring + Prada Sunnies + Cara Necklace + Gold Cuff are each this maxxinista's fab finds from TJ Maxx

Stylenspire: fall hued

In these early days of cold mornings and warm daytime, it is easy to remember all the reasons why I love fall. Though the leaves are falling, the trees and earth are yet to birth the jewel tones of nature that brings such rich beauty as it yields to the oncoming season. What I dread about this time of the year is that it is a prelude to a nightmarish season for me - winter (I still contend with God on the need for winter).

Oh how I fear those endless dark, brittle, and cold days. Yet I know not to "worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself." In the mean time I will enjoy the pleasant weather fall brings and the opportunity it offers us to style creatively.
Like my outfit for today; the rich jewel tones and textured fabric contrast kept an extra spring in my step. I was inspired by a tee shirt I saw the day before to wear this skirt today. The jacket I am wearing was a gift from my friend PJ and it feels like butter. The few times I have had it on, I caress it wondering what phantom technology they used to make the leather so, so buttery soft.

If you are looking to style these early days of fall fabulously, be sure to wear and or accessorize with rich jewel tones, and layer up with a mix of textured fabrics. These days, your body is a canvass for style art with no fashion restrictions. The only rule is to do you!
Enjoy!
